Although Mary Tyler Moore doesn’t conjure up images of rock and roll for most people, she certainly has inspired it in some.
*
For instance, take this cover version of the MTM Show theme song — “Love Is All Around” — covered by the Minneapolis based punk band Husker Du.
*
And who could forget the reference to MTM in Weezer’s power pop classic “Buddy Holly?”
I immediately thought of the punk cover when I read MTM died and it’s funny the artist didn’t come to me right away because I was a big Huskers fan back then.
Poor Butch Trucks. Like when Darby Crash killed himself a day before John Lennon got shot.
I thought of the Du, too, and also the Weezer tune, which was on a great album.
Feel bad for Darby, how about Aldous Huxley who died the day Kennedy was assassinated?
