I got to thinking about this small but fun band I followed in the Village back in the 70s tonight. The Fleshtones.
Good name! I Google and I get endless videos of the Fleshtones making a living in France, like Jerry Lewis.
But this is what this band looked like when they were young.
Opened for them once at Max’s, they seemed like good guys. They did and still do rock, but I was never crazy about their songs, and without great songs they needed some elusive something else. I don’t remember them with a sax player though and I do like his tone.
I have this 45. I think it’s a good song, but that singer is a limiting factor.

Gene is right about the elusive something. Tho that doesn’t explain Journey, Styx, or Kansas, does it, when Jellyfish had it?
Art is so strange.
I can explain Journey to Kansas via the Styx: they sucked, therefore people liked them. This is a great argument against democracy and freedom in general.
