Happy Holidays: Dropkick Murphys, “The Season’s Upon Us”

I have to admit that for the most part Christmas music does very little for me.

A lot of that is probably rooted in my Semitic upbringing.

Not that Little Saint Nick, or especially Father Christmas (which Peter gave a nod too earlier) are not great tunes. Hell, even though I am not even close to being an Adam Sandler fan, I do love his Hanukah song.

However, the other day the ever unpredictable KTKE played a pretty cool tune by the Dropkick Murphys that I liked a lot.

Meaning this is likely to be my only contribution to this genre (but you never know).

  1. Don’t feel bad, Lawr, I did not have a semitic upbringing and I can’t stand most Christmas music either. I’ve been tempted in the past to write a mass murder song called “Xmas in an X mask” but that is perhaps going too far…

    • Yes, Christmas music is generally terrible, but I’m going to keep posting songs I like or are of goofy interest, like the Marc Bolan holiday treats. And I’m going to keep saying Happy Holidays, because that’s what the terrorists and Democrats would want me to say.

  2. Samuel Adams and Benjamin Franklin would want you to say Happy Holidays…After all, they were terrorists in their day.

I think I want to work on “Xmas in an X Mask” with you Gene!

  3. Every time I hear the mellotron kick in at the beginning of Gene Autry’s “Rudolph” it makes me very melancholy. But in a good way.
