One great album and out. Doesn’t get more R’n’R than that (besides maybe Supershit 666). The Matlock on bass version of this album is equally great. (SM) Deserves all of its acolades because of the singles and because they really didn’t give a fuck. (GM)
As you guys know, I was at the Pistols final concert, at Winterland, Feb 78 (also featuring the Nuns and the Damned). Was also in London the week of Stiffs Live, and the first time I heard Anarchy in the UK, I was soaking in the tub at my grandmother’s home in Finchley, listening to my Aunt Hedda’s transistor radio and Top of the Pops (in Oct of 1977, when I was just 25).
They were great (tho Vicious a joke).
And, I have never seen anyone on stage take more abuse than Rotten.
He was spat upon. It had been raining, and people were throwing umbrellas at his, and someone hurled an empty (I think it was) fifth of Johnnie Walker at him and it in the knee, something that had to have hurt.
He never flinched. He never backed down.
Not sure why this did not make my top 50, but it is a GREAT disc, for sure.
