An English guitarist of great taste, who spent a lot of time around Paul McCartney and Wings, but also played the guitar solos at Woodstock for Joe Cocker when he turned With A Little Help From My Friends into a monster smash.
McCullough’s solo in this bit of MOR elevates it. I’m a fan of McCartney’s stuff, and I’m always happy to hear this, but less happy today that McCullough is gone.
Here’s Jimmy at the top of his game:
Different McCullough. Jimmy died in 1979 at 26. And Juniors Farm may be the best of Wings, no?
Henry nailed those solos in So Love and Live and Let Die. Very memorable, they defined McCartney’s sound at that time. Both, I think unrelated, had interesting solo and ensemble careers, though Jimmy’s was a bit more abbreviated.
That is where I went first, too (“Junior’s Farm”) which I agree is Sir Paul’s best post-Beatle piece.
“Full House,” I believe was the album title. I too have it on vinyl and dug it. i guess i still do.
I actually think McCullough’s best work was in the original “Jesus Christ Superstar” album. The mucianship in that is fantastic.
But, after seeing he died, I poked around a little, and did not know he played with Frankie Miller. I always loved this cut and Henry indeed kills it.

I dug that album at the time. I have the vinyl down in the basement.
