One thought on “Egg Nog: Otis Redding, “Merry Christmas Baby””
I think Otis would make “Spirit in the Sky,” “In the Year 2525,” “Incense and Peppermints,” and maybe even “Deuce” sound wonderful.
And, that is not a knock against the song at all (I saw Charles Brown and Bonnie Raitt together many years back and he played this and was terrific).
It is more that Otis could recite The Gettysburg Address and make the Charles Laughton version seem just not quite there (a reference to the great film, “Ruggles of Red Gap”).
